Weightlifting Workouts

Traditionally, weight training has had the primary goal of increasing strength and muscle mass. However, it can really do so much more. It can help with balance, coordination, and provide for great exercise/calorie burning. It also has a long-term impact on calorie burning because the addition of lean body mass burns more calories - even at rest.

Like all exercise, it can also be a great stress-reducer.

While weightlifting is only one of many strength-building workouts, it is one of the most popular of all time. And for good reason. Using a set of plates (olympic or standard), a few barbells, and perhaps a dumbbell set, one can work just about every muscle in the body.

There are many great references in book, magazine, and website form that can help you setup a fantastic, individualized, weight-training program.

One of our favorite websites to learn the basic principles of weightlifting, is how2muscleguide.com. The material is extremely well-thought-out and the advice aligns very nicely with all of our research and experience as well.
