Expanded Biography
Executive Editor
Cory

Summary
Cory was born in Lemoore, CA, in 1969. However, he grew up mostly
in the Chesapeake, VA area, graduating from Indian River High
School in 1987. The son of a Navy pilot, he did move around a
little, which included time in Virginia Beach and Monterrey, CA.
After high school, Cory studied Mechanical Engineering at the
University of Virginia, graduating in 1991. After some work in
the defense industry, he went back to school to earn his Masters
in Engineering at NC State University (graduating in 1996). It
was at NC State that Cory did work that could be labeled "rocket
science," a concept that still earns chuckles from his kids.
After grad school, he went on to work for IBM for about 12 years,
working a variety of technical and project management roles at
their Research Triangle Park, NC site. Not always perfect in his
timing, in early 2008 Cory decided to switch industries and go to
work for Fidelity Investments, where he led projects related to
retirement plans for Fidelity clients. His luck ran out, and he
was eventually caught up in the shedding of workers nationwide
during the recession. Now Cory devotes all of his time to writing
and e-commerce pursuits.
Cory has been into health and fitness all his life, entering team
sports such as youth football when in elementary school, and
later becoming fully immersed in wrestling from middle school
through high school. He has also been involved in running and
strength-training for over 30 years.
While taking Karate classes for several semesters in college,
Cory realized that some day it would be really fulfilling to
achieve a black belt in martial arts. He now trains with his
family and has recently gained a black belt in Taekwondo (tested
in Nov 2008, awarded in May 2009). He is now training for his
second degree.
Cory assumed the Executive Editor position at Winning-Fitness.com
in May 2009, and has final authority for everything posted on the
site. He writes articles, blogs, moderates the forum, reviews and
selects equipment for the site, as well as responds to reader
inquiries. And he works out quite a bit, always looking for new
and exciting ways to stay in shape....
